When a Realtor sells a house and they get a 6 percent commission and they are the listing and selling agent,?

how much of that 6 percent goes to their boss, say ReMax, Coldwell Banker, etc? What if they split the commission 3% with another realator. What would that realtors brokerage firm get?
The brokerage firm typically gets 50% of all the money their agents make – regardless of the breakdown as sellers agent, buyers agent, or dual agent. It’s also not unusual for newbies to have to pay additional fees to their broker in addition to the 50% such as document storage fees, advertising fees, rent, etc. But everything in real estate is negotiable and experienced top producers can usually negotiate lower fees to their broker.

yes they do, its in your contract.
I made a revision prior to listing that if the same agent represents both sides, it was 4.5 %
some agents will do this and some wont.

Listing agent gets 3% and the selling agent gets 3%. Unless the same agent lists it and brings the buyer. Most cases the 6% is split two ways. Then the Real estate office that the agent works for takes their percentage. So the agent ends up with about 2% maybe less.

If I listed your house for sale and another agent sold the house, the commission is typically split between the listing agent (me) and the selling agent and the two companies the agents worked for.
The listing agent may, at times, have both sides of the sale and their company would still share (twice) both sides of the sale.

The listing brokerage gets 3% and the selling brokerage gets 3%. Typically this is split between broker and agent 50/50 or 60/40 meaning that the agent gets about .25-.30 of the commission. The exception to the rule is RE/Max which splits 90/10 but charges a high desk fee.
On a "double bubble", list and sell, the realtor gets a full 3%.
The real problem with this scenario is in the listing side. If sellers knew what was going on and asked their listing agent to take 1% of the total, that would bring the total commission down to 4% without reducing the seller’s commission.
