How do I terminate a listing agreement with a realtor?
March 2, 2010 - 12:42 pm
Add Details: We have experienced extreme non-performance from the realtor: lack of due diligence, poor communication and lack of attention to details. Result: Requested Termination of Listing for cause and rec’d written release from the broker with an apology. Moral: You don’t have to put up with poor service – Listing contracts can and should be broken for cause
Previous post is correct, there is an expiration date on the listing. Contracts can be voided for only a few reason (death, nonfulfillment, nonperformance, etc). When in doubt, consult a lawyer.

Just tell them that you change your mind, but put everything in writing and tell them you decided to go another route, you dont have to give details, but you can and you have that right.

The previous poster is absolutely right – you are entirely within your own rights to pull your property off the market

Yes, but if you list it with another realtor and someone buys it who may have seen it with the first realtor, they may have some legal recourse against you.

Hello, a signed listing agreement, TO MY KNOWLEDGE is only expired on the date shown on the agreement. If you signed an agreement with a Real Estate Company you have to wait for it to expire.

I agree with the previous 2 answers. What is the point of signing a listing agreement if you can pull it any time you want to?? It’s like people that sign a 1 year lease and don’t understand why they have to honor it…..
