I am trying to sell my house and obviously the market isn’t great. I signed a contract with a real estate agent but don’t feel like I’m getting the true focus I should be from her. Should I take matters into my own hands and prepare marketing flyers or other tools to try and get my house sold?
No that is the realtor’s job. Your job is to clean the house, pack away clutter, repair, paint and replace what is needed.
What do you think the general public opinions are of insurance agents and realtors? I always think of insurance agents as being a bit used-car-salsman like. I have no idea what the general opinion is of realtors.

the general public does dislike insurance salespeople. oddly, business owners generally are neutral — they all have insurance and know its value.
realtors — being charming is a major part of their stock in trade and so the general public rather likes them. business people usually don’t — they’ve heard plenty of baloney before and know when they’re being fed a bill of goods that won’t prove out.

How long does it take to become a liscensed real estate agent / realtor in texas and how much is it?
The state requires 210 classroom hours and it is difficult to determine how long this would take to complete because the different real estate schools schedule classes differently. But considering you could knock out 8 hours of classroom hours a day, in theory you could knock it all out in a month if you were totally committed. School will cost you between $800-$1000 and licensing will cost you about $135. There are more fees associated with being a real estate agent, but they come later.
The texas education requirement is twice as much as I had to endure.
